Why are Satin Scrunchies Good for Your Hair?

Gone are the days of rubber bands with the emergence of scrunchies in various fabrics, designs and patterns. They are so much in trend and look absolutely gorgeous! Tie your hair with a cute scrunchie and you are done with your hairstyle for the day!

Though scrunchies made of any fabric look beautiful in hair, not all fabrics are good for your hair. Cotton fabric scrunchies have ruled the market for ages but their popularity declined with the coming of the satin fabric scrunchies.

Satin scrunchies no doubt look far better on hair than the cotton ones and women round the world are going gaga over them.

Why are Satin Scrunchies Good for Your Hair

But little do you know about the benefits that satin scrunchies offer to your hair.

Yes, besides looking elegant, satin scrunchies have a number of benefits to offer to your hair which I will share with you in this post……

Benefits of using a satin scrunchie for your hair

Satin is alike silk in texture, feel and look and therefore offer almost all the benefits like that of a silk fabric to your hair:

1. Satin scrunchies look drop dead gorgeous and elegant

2. Satin scrunchies help to lock in moisture of the hair

3. Satin scrunchies prevent frizz

4. Satin scrunchies prevent split ends and breakage

5. Satin scrunchies prevent creases and dents in the hair

6. Satin scrunchies do not pull and tug your hair

7. Satin scrunchies does not cause pain after you remove it from the hair

Is satin scrunchie good for your hair?

Yes, satin scrunchies are good for your hair even if they are not the best as silk is considered to be the best fabric for tying your hair.

Nevertheless, satin scrunchies too help to reduce friction against hair and thus reduce breakage and split ends. Also, they do not keep pulling your hair throughout the day and do not make creases and dents in the hair.

And lastly, they also do not absorb any moisture from the hair thus maintaining the natural oil balance of the hair.

But one disadvantage of satin scrunchie is that as they are very smooth in texture, they tend to skip down the hair after a period of time and so you need to keep re-tying your hair every now and then.

Is it good to sleep with a satin scrunchie?

Sleep with satin scrunchies

What I have realised over the years is that you need to tie your hair in an updo (that’s pretty much close to your forehead) while you sleep in order to reduce friction of your hair against the pillowcase and thus reduce frizz and breakage. But little did I know that the material of the scrunchies also did matter a lot.

At first I used to use cotton scrunchies but they used to pull my hair and cause breakage wherein my forehead was becoming huge (After which I started to cut bangs for months in order to hide my broad forehead).

One day when I went to my stylist for another bang cut, she then asked my problem and referred me to using a satin or silk scrunchie for my hair. And girl, I never looked back to cotton scrunchies again in my life.

Yes, sleeping with a satin scrunchie has solved my hair problems as it has helped to reduce breakage and split ends and also made my hair less frizzy and less dry over the period of time. And thanks to continuous use of it, I never had to go back to bangs again.

Are satin scrunchies better than silk?

Silk is a natural fabric wherein satin is not. Though satin looks almost a replica of silk and works the same way for your hair like that of silk, yet the original fabric definitely has an impact on your hair than its copy.

Are satin scrunchies better than cotton?

Cotton scrunchies

Yes, satin scrunchies are far better than their cotton alternatives because cotton, though a natural fabric, yet it causes friction against the hair which results in breakage and split ends.

Also, cotton scrunchies tend to pull the hair which results in thinning of the hair over the years. The next disadvantage of cotton scrunchie is that it creates dent and creases in the hair.
