Are Korean Skincare Products Safe?

All of Korea is skincare and skincare. They worship their skin and beauty is their ultimate goal. Besides using a lot of natural ingredients for their skincare, the Korean skin care industry has also come up with some amazing skin care brands and products that actually work.

But when something really does what it claims, we generally tend to think whether it’s safe for our skin in the long run?

Lemme assure you my dear, you are not alone to think so, even I and like us millions of skin care enthusiasts have at some point thought of the safety side of the Korean skincare products.

But if you are not sure what about any Korean skincare product you are using and want to find out about its complete ingredient list, you can check it from this link //cosdna.com/

Are Korean Skincare Products Safe

Are Korean skin care products cruelty free?

As of now, not all South Korean skin care brands have moved completely to cruelty free products, but South Korea no longer requires animal testing for their products after the decision from the Ministry of Food and Drug safety of Korea.

South Korea has already put a ban on testing in 2016 and the Korea National Assembly has passed a bill by 2018 to restrict companies in Korea to test their products or even any ingredient on animals.

Is Korean skincare chemical free?

Though most of the Korean skincare products are recently made from all natural ingredients, yet not all are free from chemicals. They do contain chemicals in them but none of them are proven to be harmful for the skin. And it’s a fact that the effect that useful chemicals can bring to the skin is not possible by natural ingredients alone.

Dr. Helena Kuhn from Brown Dermatology at Rhode Island Hospital has reported that whereas some ingredients in Korean skincare are really effective and safe as the Royalty sells it, yet some ingredients are questionable like donkey milk, snail slime and bee venom.

She further added that antimony, a heavy metal, has been found in high quantities in some Korean skincare products which can pause serious skin concerns. She gave us a list of ingredients to avoid from the Korean cosmetics which contains:

  • Lead which is a heavy metal
  • Antimony which is again a very heavy metal
  • Retinol that is supposed to reverse the ageing process like fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hydrocortisone a steroid and triamcinolone which is again a steroid which can cause skin issues like irritability, redness, rashes and breakouts
  • Hydroquinone that is a bleaching agent and reports have proven it to be the cause of skin burns and darkening

So, if you see the above mentioned ingredients in any of the Korean skincare products or cosmetics, please do avoid them.

Are Korean skin care products safe to use?

Korea is the heaven for skincare and when the world could not even think of the ingredients, Koreans made it into their products. From ancient ingredients to the new found ones, they are truly a genius in the making of good skin.

While most of their popular ingredients like propolis, hyaluronic acid, snail mucin, and rice extract are safe to use, do not expect a skin like them with those products alone because the truth is something else.

Koreans do a lot more than just skin care for their glass snow white skin. There comes into play a lot of injections, steroids, plastic surgery, skin lightening treatments for achieving that perfect flawless glass skin.

So, Korean skincare are safe to an extent and definitely going to enhance your skin but if they will do wonders for the skin to transform it to just like the Koreans skin, that’s questionable.

See you soon!

Love your skin just the way it is. Drink a lot of water, fresh veggies and fruits and follow a normal cleansing toning and moisturising routine. Your skin should be healthy from within and only then it will reflect outwards.

With that in mind, choose your products carefully and never forget the ingredient list of the product you are gonna put on your skin. Talk to your dermatologist first if you are unsure about a particular ingredient and then use it on your skin.

That’s all my beauties for today. See you soon. Till then……

Keep it simple, keep it fashionable!
