5 Pros and Cons of Having Curly Hair

I think having curly hair is a 50/50 win or lose match. There would be days when even having done nothing would make your curly hair look like a diva and there would be those other days where even after setting the curly hair right would not match to your expectations and would look very messy!

I have many friends with curly and wavy hair and whenever I appreciate their hair, they have one reply for it and that’s “it’s a high maintenance job and needs a lot of time too to set the curly hair right!”

Though curly hair looks absolutely amazing and very tempting I say, yet there are few positive and negative sides to it which I would like you to know before you think of getting your hair permed.

Pros and Cons of Having Curly Hair

Pros of having curly hair

Let’s first get into all things good about curly hair and raise your temptation for having those yummy curls:

1. Curls make your hair look like they have a lot of volume

This is a blessing for curly haired people, they don’t ever have to worry about hair fall because curls always make your hair look like you have a lot of hair with a good volume and bounce.

2. You don’t need to shampoo often

Even if you don’t shampoo your hair regularly, your oily scalp won’t turn your hair flat and won’t look sticky.

3. OkYou can even go out without combing your hair

That’s the best perk of having curly hair according to me! People like me with straight hair, I have to dedicate at least 15 to 20 minutes to set my hair right before moving out.

But with curly hair, you can just go out without doing anything to your hair and people will still think you have great hair.

4. Just a bun looks gorgeous on curly hair

You don’t need to try different hairstyles to look great. Curls are in itself a fashion statement and just by doing a messy bun you are ready to steal the show.

5. People will always envy your curls

No matter, you are satisfied with your own hair or not, your curls will be envied by others every now and then because the number of people with natural curly hair is very less and believe me there’s always a difference between having naturally curly hair and getting a perm done.

So, when you go out with your curls, you are sure to be the centre of the show.

Cons of having curly hair

Now let’s have a look at the disadvantages of having curly hair before you make a decision to perm your hair because all things bright are not always beautiful from within:

1. Curly hair can be very messy

No matter how much effort you put behind setting your hair, after a certain period of time in the day, it starts looking messy. A gust of wind can make you look tremendous with your curly hair and forget about bike rides with curly hair.

2. Curly hair needs a lot of maintenance

Yes, you do really need to dedicate a generous amount of time behind setting your curls right from washing it to setting it with a diffuser to detangling it for hours.

I tell you peeps, detangling curly hair is very difficult believe me. You will need serums and a good hair care regime to maintain healthy looking curls.

3. Curly hair needs separate hair care products

You just cannot apply any hair care product for your curls because too much moisture in the products will weigh down your curls and too dry products will make the hair look like a lion’s Mane.

So, you need to select shampoos, conditioners and serums very carefully for your curly hair.

4. You would not know the actual length of your hair

This is another drawback of having curly hair I tell you. You will never know the actual length of your hair. When your hair would be of mid back length, it would just show as shoulder length!

5. It’s needs a lot of time to straighten hair

Straightening wavy hair is easy, but with curly hair you would require a lot of patience and dedication. So, if you wanna straighten your curls for a party which you are to attend at 7 in the evening, you need to start with the straightening process from at least 5.
