Blondes can have naturally curly hair, but the percentage is too low.

According to a statistical study, only 2% of the total world population have naturally blonde curly hair that’s natural. The percentage however, certainty goes up when only involving the women of the United States and that’s 5%.

Blonde curly hair is the best combo one can give a shot to. It will just change your entire look and personality (obviously outward). So, if you wanna give it a shot, I have got some mind-blowing tips for you in the sections below.

Tips to change your hair from dark and straight to blonde and curly

Blonde and curls are just like best friends that can conquer the world. Blonde colour shows off the best with curls and the shades of blonde get accentuated with the depths and curves of the curls.

But going curly and blonde from straight and dark hair is very tricky and can be damaging as well. Therefore, you need to know the details of the correct steps to be followed.

1. Always perm your hair first before colouring it blonde

Perming of straight hair makes use of many chemicals, including a perming solution which is the ammonium thioglycolate (that helps in breaking the natural bond of the hair so that it can take on a new form and shape) and then a neutralizer that bonds the hair into the new structure.

These chemicals which are used to curl your hair are very strong and can change the colour of your hair if you dye to prior to perming or can totally take off all the colour from your hair.

So, it’s always advisable to colour your hair after you have permed it.

2. Wait for 15 days to 1 month before dyeing your hair blonde

Your hair is already vulnerable post perming and the neutralizer needs time to settle on the hair cuticles.

Application of bleach or dye at this point will only have two consequences: one, it will damage your hair entirely or burn it and two, it will wash off the neutralizer, making the hair to return to its normal state very soon.

So, the 15 to 30 days waiting time is worth it if you wanna keep your hair healthy.

3. Bleach your hair before putting the blonde dye

Naturally dark hair is hard to turn blonde directly with just the application of the dye. It needs to be bleached prior to colouring.

4. Apply the dye from the tips to the roots

Do not start with colouring your hair from the roots. It will lighten the head part of your hair and create darker shades of blonde in the rare part which is not supposed to be the case.

So, start with the ends of the hair strands and then go up to the roots. This will give the hair a natural shade from darker shades at the roots to lighter at the ends which looks flawless.

5. Apply a toner or a toning shampoo post colouring your hair blonde

Bleaching hair prior to colouring can lead to colour to deposit in uneven amounts in some parts of the hair strands. So, a toner helps to fix the problem (correct the tonality of the hair, making it evenly coloured throughout).
