It’s all the work of hairspray!

Yes, it’s the hairspray that holds their hairstyle intact the entire day without making the slightest damage or without any flyaways.

Is Hairspray Bad for Your Hair

No, they have even healthier hair than most of us who don’t even use any such products on our hair.

If these questions are haunting you, then read on because I have got only the truth for you in store…..

What is hairspray made of?

A hairspray is a product that helps to hold a hairstyle firmly without moving even a single strand of hair. It’s a type of mist that you spray on your hair.

The main components of a hairspray are a propellant, a solvent and a polymer. The propellant and the solvent helps the polymer to come out as a spray and set into the hair making a good hold while the formers evaporate after spraying.

There are basically 3 types of hairsprays: flexible hold, medium hold and maximum hold. The difference lies in the use of the concentration of polymers which are usually PVAc (polyvinyl acetate) and PVP which is a copolymer of polyvinyl pyrrolidone.

Why should you use hairspray?

Imagine you have put your 2 hours into creating a beautiful hairstyle and the moment you get out the wind blows hard and creates flyaways in your hairstyle and the top bun that you had created starts coming down after a while! Very disappointing right?

That’s when a hairspray would come to your rescue and change the game! A hairspray will help to hold all your hair in place without letting a single strand come out of your hairstyle or fall on your face. It will hold all your tightly until you want to open the hair after reaching home.

The correct way to use hairspray:

The correct way to use hairspray

You don’t need the entire bottle of hairspray all at once. The fact is, it’s not a haircare product but a hairstyling one. So, once you are done with your heat styling and creating your desired hairstyle, you need to grab the hairspray bottle.

But wait, if hairspray enters your nose, mouth or eyes will irritate it and make the taste of your mouth bitter. So, it’s better to wear a mask beforehand.

Now hold the hairspray bottle quite far from the hair and spray over your entire hair. You don’t need to work on separate sections.

Is it ok to use hairspray everyday?

Unless and until you wash your hair post hairspray application and condition your hair thoroughly, you can use hairspray everyday.

But yes, when it’s not that necessary, you can skip it for hairspray will definitely make your hair frizzy and rough. If you use hairspray everyday, I suggest use a mositurising mask once a week to maintain the health of your hair and retain the shine.

Does using hairspray damage your hair?

Using hairspray sparingly will not damage your hair because it does not contain any such harmful chemicals. But you need to be careful about the health of your hair and keep checking for loss of shine, dandruff, itchy scalp, frizz and dullness.

The key is to use hairspray judiciously and only when needed and caring for your hair post hairspray by removing it with a clarifying shampoo and then conditioning it.

Post hairspray care/how to remove hairspray from hair?

Hairspray is very sticky and makes your hair pretty hard (that’s what it’s made for afterall, to hold your hairstyle in place).

But after you are done flaunting your hairstyle and you return back home, you will ponder over why you had applied it after all!

Your hair will feel like hard locks that can be broken if bent and you will feel the urge of taking it off immediately. Thank God gracious, taking out hairspray isn’t that hard as you might be thinking.

Wash your hair with a detox clarifying shampoo

All you need to do is wash your hair with a detox clarifying shampoo of any brand of your choice. A clarifying shampoo helps to deep cleanse the deposits of the hairspray from hair strands and the scalp.

Then follow up with a moisturising conditioner because hairspray and clarifying shampoo both tend to make your hair dry.

Once done, towel dry your hair and apply a serum to detangle your hair gently.

Wasn’t that really easy?

See you soon!

Using hairspray will not damage your hair if you care for your hair the right way post application.

Hairspray is indeed a blessing for any hairstyle you want to flaunt the entire day. So, make the most use of it but at the same time remember it is also important to take it off after your work has been done for the day.
